Why Mozilla (Firefox) is better than Internet Explorer

I forget sometimes that other people that I work with don't use Firefox or Mozilla.  I think it's critical for any web developer, but also there are fundamental features that are useful to average users too.

Some of the distinctive features are listed on the Firefox page, but there are two that I'd like to highlight:

My start up page is actually 5 web pages that I need to check on a daily basis.  They open in tabs within the one browser window.

Built-in pop-up blocking and image-blocking (blocking images i.e. ads from specific servers).

Wink - Free Tutorial Creation (like Camtasia)

Wink: "Wink is a Tutorial and Presentation creation software, primarily aimed at creating tutorials on how to use software (like a tutor for MS-Word/Excel etc). Using Wink you can capture screenshots of your software, use images that you already have, type-in explanations for each step, create a navigation sequence complete with buttons, delays, titles etc and create a highly effective tutorial for your users."

A low-end alternative to something like Camtasia (which I love, btw). I like the look of it. Via Stephen Downes.

PCWorld.com - News on Demand

PCWorld.com - News on Demand: "Most of us keep a mental list of our favorite Web sites--perhaps 10 to 15 destinations that we swing by every day. But usually only a few of them contain new stories that are worth reading immediately, so a habit of loading and scanning each of these sites daily can waste a lot of time."

Nice orientation for the only mildly geeky with a good list of options too.

Blog It! Bookmarklet

The Blog It! bookmarklet makes writing about and linking to different webpages much easier. To install it just drag it to your Links toolbar or to your favorites. Then when you are looking at a page you wish to write a weblog entry about, you can just select some text to quote and then click the bookmarklet.

If you have the Google toolbar, you may need to press your ctrl key to allow the window to pop-up.
