document.write('<br />The Teaching Professor newsletter and Magna Publications invite presentation, panel discussions, and interactive poster session proposals for the seventh annual Teaching Professor Conference. The goal of the conference is to produce substantive work so that teaching professors can improve practice and add legitimacy to their role as teacher scholars.<br /><br />The Teaching Professor offers seven topical areas, presented as multiple concurrent sessions and poster sessions for the various roles and concerns of teaching professors. We invite submissions for 75-minute presentations and panel discussions focusing on the agenda of “Educate. Engage. Inspire.” Your submission may fall within one of the topical areas listed below; however we welcome compelling ideas that may not be addressed in these topical areas.<br /><br />The deadline for submitting a proposal is October 30th, 2009. These include instructional uses, students’ perceived learning gains, how instructors can use/have used the technology (successes and challenges), study abroad experiences with the technology, pedagogical impact, and economic perspectives on its use.    <br /><br />The publication will provide a comprehensive body of literature that addresses the fact that iPods and iTunes are not a passing phase, but rather are enhancing the way in which foreign language students are acquiring language proficiency. document.write('<br /><div align=\"left\">A special issue of the Journal of Emerging Technologies in Web Intelligence (JETWI)</div><div align=\"left\"> </div><div align=\"left\"><strong>Presentation</strong><br />While we have been successful at broadcasting learning material on the web, we are still falling short of capturing online the social interactions students experience. While online learning is effective, it is not as engaging as it could be. Indeed, we know that learning is facilitated by environmental factors such as socialization. Yet, during the last 6 or 7 years, several web applications and frameworks (e.g., Bebo, Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, Twitter) have proven that socialization on the web can go much beyond the early posting boards and online forums that are still in use within most learning management systems. Unfortunately, we still know little about what sustains social interaction on the Web. Moreover, online educators have to design more than course learning material. They have to enhance this material by scenarios which integrate online interactions.</div><div align=\"left\"><br /><strong>Scope</strong><br />We are inviting research articles concerning the theory, engineering and practice of learning and teaching on the Social Web.
