FUNCTIONS

Many equations in two unknowns are functions. Like equations in two unknowns, functions can be considered as an algebraic rule, a numeric table or a graph. Thus we will do many of the same things with functions that you have done with these equations. We will see that functions are more restricted than equations which will allow some new mathematical tools to be used.

You may select a unit by double clicking on it with your mouse, your touch pad or the enter key. It is strongly recommended that you do the units in the given order even if this is a review. Each unit can provide a quick check of your knowledge in the pre-test or the homework sections.

Unit 1 Definitions of Relations and Functions

Definitions, notations and practice with functions

Unit 2 Algebra of Functions
Add, subtract, multiply, divide and composition

Unit 3 Graphing Functions
Plotting a graph with and without a graphing calculator

Unit 4 Applications of Functions
Variation problems

Unit 5 Non - Linear Functions
Non-linear functions and their graphs

After completing these units you are ready to proceed to other topics.
